From 2004 through early 2006, Fail Engineering provided assistance to Crockett
Telephone Company Inc., located in Alamo, Tennessee to upgrade its lightwave capabilities
and fiber rings. Fail Engineering personnel designed a diverse OC48 optical ring using
existing Lucent DMX and Lucent DDM2000 equipment between three central office locations.
In addition, Fail Engineering prepared Outside Plant contracts for OBT Contractors to
construct 18 route miles of 24 strand fiber optic cable to feed three new Siemens Accession
remotes and to provide fiber to two existing AFC remotes that were previously serviced
by copper T-1s. These projects were supervised by Fail Engineering and followed through
the closeout phase. A design was then developed to include these remotes into five (5)
separate fiber rings served by the three (3) Central Offices. The final ring designs
allowed the inclusion of 14 Siemens and AFC remote locations. Fail Engineering worked
with Lucent, Siemens, Adtran, AFC, and Crockett Telephone Company Inc. personnel to
develop the upgrade plan, specify and obtain quotes for the necessary lightwave equipment
needed for the project.
