Airport Optical Expansion

Lafourche Telephone Company

In 2006 Fail Engineering was selected by LaFourche Telephone Company, headquartered in Larose, Louisiana to prepare a proposal for the delivery of communications services to an Airport expansion development at the airport administered by the LaFourche Parish Port Authority. Fail Engineering has completed the outside plant portion of the project by staking the fiber route from the Larose, Louisiana Central Office to the Airport CSA remote location and designating the fibers to use out of existing fiber optic cable in the network. Fail Engineering, along with LaFourche Telephone personnel, have worked with Northern Telecom to propose the remote equipment needed for the basic interface back into the Larose Central Office. In addition to the basic Pots served by this remote equipment, Adtran Optimx lightwave equipment was selected to provide Ethernet service via OC12 Optical Transport for the broadband and basic telephony offering. The OC12 will be updated to OC48 in July, 2006 and the Ethernet service will be upgraded to Gigabit Ethernet.
